Mrs. Phillips was elected to the Board of Trustees in January of 2014 and serves as the Chairman of the Board as of 2023. She graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 and worked for a public accounting firm and for a law firm specializing in taxation prior to joining Hancock Askew & Co, CPAs in 1973. She obtained her full certification as a Certified Public Accountant in 1974. During her work in the accounting field she worked in small business, auditing and taxation, serving a wide variety of for profit and not for profit entities. She was a partner in the firm until she retired in 2007, and continues to work with the firm on a limited contract basis at the current time. She has served on the board of the Rape Crisis Center of Savannah and the Savannah Girl Scout Council, having served as an officer for both organizations in the past as well. A member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, Mrs. Phillips has served on several committees within the church and is an active volunteer for Ogeechee Area Hospice. She also was a member of the Rotary Club of Savannah until her retirement.
